Our solutions to common problems
-
Stiff or stuck
Are your windows squeaky, difficult to open or feeling like they’re going to snap if you push them too far? Bifold windows that scrape and scream when you try to open them? We can fix these ailments and get them working easily and securely again.
-
Draughts or leaks
Draughts and leaks can lead to mould and dampness, compromising your home’s ability to retain heat and repel moisture. We can help to remedy these issues to keep your home insulated when it matters most.
-
Misaligned or loose
Windows that swing open too far can be a safety issue for children, and a security issue too. Replacement friction stays can remedy this. Additionally, we can adjust the window to ensure it closes in line with the frame, preventing gaps and misalignment.
-
Broken or corroded handles
We install replacement catches (handles) for a wide range of aluminium and timber windows. We will colour-match them to your joinery when required and provide a style that matches your home best.
-
Shrunk or cracked seals
Rubber seals that have come away at the corners of the window result in a poor insulation and can cause draughts and poor insulation. We’ll replace backing seals and window rubbers to close gaps and help the window to close flush again.
-
Damaged sash windows
We can service the sash cords and spiral balances for double and single hung sash windows to maintain easy operation.

FAQs
How do I know if my rubber seals need replacing?
If you feel draughts or cold air coming from around your window, if your rubbers are deteriorating or falling out, then that’s a good indicator that you need them checked. Replacing them is a fairly inexpensive first step to keeping your home better insulated.
Why won’t my window open and close properly?
This could be many things, but perhaps the most common issue is that the hinges or friction stays need replacing. Over time these can easily become worn, rusted or broken, so replacing the friction stays will make it much easier to open and close the windows.
